1960s spring dresses. From The Australian Women's Weekly, 10 August 1960
The Oxford dictionary says that the word 'Modest', when describing a woman means, 'dressing or behaving so as to avoid impropriety or indecency, especially to avoid attracting sexual attention'. When defining clothing, it states that it should not [be] revealing or emphasise a person's figure.
The lotus flower symbolises rising from a dark place into beauty and rebirth, as this is exactly how a lotus flower grows. Lotus flowers grow directly out of muddy and murky waters and produce beautiful white and pink blossoms.
The Oxford dictionary defines the word 'Est' as: A system for self-improvement aimed at developing a person's potential through intensive group awareness and training sessions.
It defines 'Mode' as: A fashion or style in clothes, art, literature, etc.
By bringing awareness to both good and bad examples of clothing, it is my aim to help women to aspire to a different form of beauty. I want you to be called beautiful by everyone who looks at you, but not because private parts that belong to you are showing and are causing cheeks to redden; not because men's imaginations are sent wild due to the length of your skirt. No. I want you to be beautiful because the inner you shines more greatly than your outfit.
You are not your clothing! So be beautiful, be ModEst.
