So spring and summer are soon to be upon us. The new fashion flavours are, by now, mellowing in our minds. What are the trends for Spring and Summer and more importantly, how are we going to interpret the styles when putting together our own ModEst wardrobes?

It has definitely been a vibrant collection with block colours, like the images below. Designers are being bolder than ever and the runway is looking fabulous with modest cuts that we can use to style ourselves from.

'Call me Yellow Mellow' by Donovan Philips Leitch , would probably be the theme tune that would be played every time a yellow outfit strutted down the Catwalk. This little number has appealed to me the most. Its an easy to wear outfit and would probably look great in most relaxed settings. I would add a brightly coloured bandeau that picks out the same yellow, to add an ethnic feel, not forgetting that a bandeau can look great as a soft belt. But hey, bandeau or not, this is a definite 'Yes' for the ModEst woman. The good thing about it is that there are a host of tones that have been used. We have seen zingy citrus, murky mustard, and luminous tones that any martian would be proud of. The point is, that anyone of you will look good with one or two items of yellow in your wardrobe this summer. Find the tone that complements your skin.

Block colours are definitely in for Spring. Is it this dazzling pink that tickles your fancy? Well there were plenty of vibrant tones and the more delicate ones too. The styles are as bold and so this will definitely be a 'step in the room, make everyone look' trend to follow. Personally, I will be adding this colour to my wardrobe in the form of prints.

Oriental delights - There was a distinctive sense of being in the orient this year. Victoria Beckham's creation below was inspiring. The use of floral fabric was no surprise as it has featured across the various catwalks. However, the use of oriental styled floral themes with modern western styles, like the pleated skirt rocked. And another thing, Those boots though! This is a definite must for me this spring Summer, I am investing in a pair of white boots. Go VB!

Mulberry teamed up a pair of white boots with a metallic number. We are certainly getting excited about the prospects of a great pair of white boots to jazz up our summer stunners. It reminds me of cowboy boots that seem to go so well with the many denim outfits in parts of America.

Deconstructed - Another trend that stood out to me. The designer gets to go crazy, creating an array of crazy cool shapes that resemble looks that would suit a universal Alice in Wonderland themed Catwalk. Can you imagine what that would look like? Nothing would be as it seemed and every aspect of the clothing designed would develop its own mind. So the shoulders would say to the breast bone, 'Hey, I wanna sit beneath you'. Both sides of a collar would argue as one would slouch to the back whereas the other would sit upright in its usual position. This 2017 Spring/Summer expect to see deconstructed garments that hang off the shoulder or skirts that have asymmetric hemlines.

I wouldn't say that I am a fan of this multifaceted look by Claudia Li for her 2017 Spring/Summer look, However I love the asymmetric shape to this blouse front below, by Victoria Beckham. I mean, its clear that there is no ... 'ahem' ... collar. 'Err Mrs Beckham, did you forget something?' The cuffs are structured and so the by omitting the collar, this garment has a distinctively mischievous look about it.

Barely There... I guess it comes as no surprise that this is one of the emerging trends that we do not aspire to. First of all I want to discuss the workmanship gone into these garments - aspects that I love. This magazine will never be about tearing someone down for their choice in clothing or even in their creations. It is and will always be about the ModEst woman sifting through fashions latest creations and finding what is appropriate for us. Being modest is at the forefront of our thought process when finding well arranged garments.

Tulle is beautiful, and lace even more so. In this instance this is sheer heaven. I love the ice blue colour and the way it is wrapped across Maria's chest. I can imagine a silk undergarment that would cover the private areas. By using a similar colour, this would not have detracted from the look. The detail in the skirt, around the waist area is breath taking. Thanks to the transparency of the top we can see it. However, I have never been a fan of the split up the centre look. I do not think it is flattering. Simply lowering the height at which the two edges meet would have given this a more modest look and would not have interfered with the smooth curves of the skirt.

Remember form the 'About' page, I stated that once these styles are filtered down to the high street, less fabric is used and more is on show. Whilst the designs above are remarkable with the beautiful embellishments, Everyday stores will not be as generous and the end result will be a watered down version that screams immodesty. So a definite no, no to this trend for us ModEst women.

Maybe not everyone will be picking these fashion gems off the shelf, but hopefully reading these blogs, you will find inspiration in the many styles showcased. Watch out for more snippets that will be featured well in time for Spring Summer 2017. We will make sure you make the right choices when considering the 'Good, Bad and not so Modest'.
